Job Description:
JOB CHARACTERISTICS - Under direction, promotes and coordinates a variety of special events and programs for the City, particularly Georgefest (February 22-24, 2019). Although the employee may be removed from supervision, which affords a certain degree of independence, work is performed with the framework of pre-established activity guidelines. EXAMPLES OF MACHINES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED General office equipment; variety of equipment, materials and supplies used for events and programs SUPERVISION RECEIVED – Events Coordinator ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS – • Greets and assists the public and other visitors; • Answers the telephone, providing information, assistance, screening and taking messages; • Assists with special projects and events assigned by the Events Coordinator; • Establishes and maintains logs, files and other records; • Enhances working relationships with various organizations, non-profit groups, service clubs and businesses; • Participates in the setting up and taking down of decorations, displays, tables, chairs, equipment, etc., before and after scheduled activities; • Provides support to those assigned to assist in events production; • Provides for the maintenance and inspection of supplies and equipment; • Works to create and maintain a positive economic development and business climate in the City; • Other related duties as required. Working Hours – Monday through Friday 8:00 am am to 5:00 pm Salary Range – $10.00/hr. REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge, Abilities and Skills – General knowledge of special events programs and activities. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, some weekends and holidays. Strong organizational and communication skills; computer experience (Microsoft Word/Excel) preferred. Training and Experience – High School diploma or recognized equivalent preferred; valid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record is required.

Physical Demands:
Physical Demands - This is continuous light work and occasional heavy work. Requires frequent walking and standing for long periods of time; frequent stooping, bending and reaching; lifting up to 50 pounds and carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds; good finger/hand dexterity and hand/eye coordination; good eyesight, hearing and speech; working in adverse environmental conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.) for long periods of time.
